E0816 - Brother From Another Series
Bob's Goal: Reforming and living a normal life.
Synopsis
Trivia
- This episode features many references to the TV series Frasier, a sitcom about a radio psychologist and his family.
- Bob is played by Kelsey Grammar, known for portraying Dr. Frasier Crane in the sitcom Cheers, later getting his own spinoff in Frasier. Although the character of Frasier existed prior to Bob's introduction, he would not get his own series until 1993.
- Cecil is played by David Hyde Pierce, who portrays Frasier's younger brother, Niles, a practicing psychologist, and a Jungian to Frasier's Freudian.
- The scene beginning with "Frasier is a hit show on the NBC television network" makes use of a Frasier-style title card, and the dialogue in the scene is reminiscent of the high-faluting banter between Frasier and Niles in the show.
- When Bart covers Cecil's eyes and says "guess who," Cecil replies "Maris?" which is the name of Niles's (ex-)wife, who is frequently mentioned but never seen on-screen.
