E0112 - Krusty Gets Busted
Bob's Goal: Framing Krusty for armed robbery and taking over his show.
Synopsis
Trivia
- Although Bob is disguised as Krusty, when describing him to the police, Homer states that he has "big red hair," indicating that Homer either has latent psychic abilities, or is perhaps color-blind.
- Krusty begins his show with "Who do you love? (Krusty!)" "How much do you love me? (With all our hearts!)" and "What would you do if my show went off the air? (We'd kill ourselves!)." Bob keeps the first two of these (changing "who" to "whom"), but skips the last line, showing that he has a bit of a sensitive side.
- Bob frames Krusty for the relatively petty crime of armed robbery, despite the fact that Krusty was already engaging in illegal activity (sports gambling), and would later commit large amounts of tax fraud. That said, the optics of armed robbery are quite different from white collar crime.
- Although Bob substantially alters the tone of his show, he still wears his classic grass skirt and bone necklace.
Commentary
- Like Krusty, many members of the show's crew participated in sports gambling at the time.
- According to the crew's commentary, each act of the show begins with a face: first Krusty's on "The Krusty the Clown Show," then Krusty on the news, behind bars, and finally Bob on "Sideshow Bob's Cavalcade of Whimsy.
- The crew hoped to include a Bob episode in every season, but this did not materialize as they could not always think of reasons to get him out of jail.
